I'm exploring the possibility of using Substack for my blogging needs. I’ve been following
for some time and it has been mentioned more frequently in recent weeks, so I'm intrigued by its potential. I already have two blogs going so I’m not sure if this is where I’ll end up.What I see for now is that Substack offers two compelling features: it's free to use and ad-free, which are strong incentives for any blogger. Additionally, it allows for subscribers or followers, enabling engagement with like-minded people or, more beneficially, relatives. This community-building aspect could be particularly valuable for genealogy and family history blogging. I'm considering either cross-posting my content from other blogs to Substack or potentially making it my primary blogging platform. For now, I'd like to share a post that's caught my attention multiple times lately by

If you're researching any of the names I've mentioned, I'd love to connect with you. My current focus is on my brick-wall ancestor, Neil Campbell. Finding his birth record in Nova Scotia would be a significant breakthrough, as would discovering details about his arrival in either Australia or New Zealand. I've already explored part of this family mystery in my self-published book, "In Search of Orphan Annie," which delves into the story of Neil's 'wife' (though no official marriage record has been found). I've made this book available to family and friends, and you can access a PDF version here.
Great to see you contributing Jenny. I enjoyed reading your Sixteen post. Unfortunately I don't have any of your names on my tree.
Lots of immigrants in this generation - look forward to following along Jenny
